Decorate your own set of nesting dolls in this guided all-ages workshop at the museum!

Join instructor Laura Brosi for a relaxed creative painting workshop where you’ll create your own set of nesting dolls.

At the NC Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures at 440 South Salisbury Avenue, Spencer, NC 28159

Workshop Details:

  • All ages. This workshop is open to children as well as adults.
  • You’ll receive a 3-piece nesting doll set ready for you to paint!
  • You’ll be able to select from one of two design options: The traditional look, depicting a peasant woman in a headscarf and a long sarafan dress, or a seasonal winter motif, with traditional imagery and pattern ideas provided for inspiration.
  • Personalize the design you choose with your choice of color, pattern and decorative details.

Cost & Registration:

Cost is $40 for museum members or $45 for non-members. Includes museum admission and all materials needed for this project.

Your Instructor:

Your instructor is Laura Brosi, a visual artist and art educator with more than 20 years of experience.  Her artwork has been featured in numerous gallery exhibitions, and she is a published artist and creator of public works.

Nesting dolls, or Matryoshka dolls, were created in Russia in 1890 by wood carver Vasily Zvyozdochkin and painter Sergey Malyutin. These artists were inspired by traditional Japanese Buddhist or Fukurokuju nesting figures.
